Mary Louise Wheatley

Mary Louise Wheatley, 88, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:12 P.M., Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Louise was an elementary school teacher for thirty-two years teaching at Clay City, Greenup, Pana, and South Stickney. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin, National Education Association, Perry County Retired Teachers Association, First Christian Church Quilting Club, and Eastern Star.
She was born July 10, 1915 at Hurst, IL, the daughter of Andrew J. and Mary O. (Wasson) Zimmerman.
She married Virgil R. Wheatley on February 4, 1939 at Hurst, IL and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1993.
She is survived by nieces - Linda Davis of Du Quoin, Bonnie Meese of Greensboro, NC, Evelyn Blankenship of Herrin, IL, Jacquelyn Weaver of Kirkland, WA, and Mary K. Tackett of Energy, one nephew - Bruce Wheatley of Bonita Springs, FL, several great nieces and nephews, special friends - Reita Olmstead of Houston, TX, and Richard Edwards of Bradenton, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. John Lewis officiating.
Friends called from 1:30 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Interment was in the DeSoto Cemetery at DeSoto.
